Ortelius Capital Partners, LLC, an alternative asset management group specializing in hedge funds, was founded in 2002 by H.R.H. Prince Pavlos and Peter DeSorcy. The firm's three operating principals, including Paul Knollmeyer, each have over ten years of experience managing various alternative investment vehicles and building proprietary businesses within the financial services industry.
Ortelius, whose ownership also includes the Search
Investment Group, the family investment arm of Robert W. Miller (founder of Duty Free Shoppers), spun-off from Ivory Capital Group, LLC in 2002 and is the successor management company to Ivory Fund Advisors, LLC.
Ortelius emphasizes performance attribution which stems primarily from stock-picking abilities, or "alpha", and not from exposure to the marketplace or other macro-exogenous variables. By combining a research-intensive, fundamental-based investment process with a strict risk management program, Ortelius seeks to produce equity-like returns with bond-like volatility over a market cycle.
Ortelius maintains offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.
